Professor in Intercultural Theology

The Faculty of Protestant Theology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany) invites applications for the position of a tenured full-time Professor (W2) in Intercultural Theology as soon as possible.

The holder of the position will represent the subject of Intercultural Theology in research and teaching, research current developments in the culture of religion, reflect on them theologically and teach students the relevant skills.

A research focus in the field of interreligious theology is expected as well as the willingness to develop and implement a new Master’s program in the field of ethics, diversity and intersectionality in contexts of denominational and religious plurality.

The advertised professorship (m/f/d) should initiate and coordinate interdisciplinary research projects both within the faculty and across faculties. Positive evaluation as a junior professor, habilitation or equivalent academic achievement and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and to generally get involved in university processes according to Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s mission statement.

We expect furthermore:

  • strong commitment in teaching
  • readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work / readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research
  • willingness and proven ability to attract third-party funded research projects
  • experience in setting up university research projects and the willingness to play a formative role in the faculty’s international cooperation activities
